Sid’s Tattoo Policies

Deposit Policies

Design Policies

  • A deposit is required to book an appointment

  • Deposits are applied to your total tattoo cost (In the event your tattoo is multiple sessions, the deposit will come off the final session cost, it will act as your deposit for each appointment you need to make for that piece until it is completed)

  • Deposits are non-refundable within 48 hours of appointment date

  • A deposit may be rolled-over, one time, if a reschedule is requested within those 48 hours before appointment date

  • A reschedule -must be booked- within one month of a deposit roll-over, or is otherwise forfeit

  • Design sketches will not be provided prior to the appointment date, unless at my own discretion. Access to my portfolio can be found here on the website, or on instagram @creepycrepuscular for a comprehensive idea of what my art looks like and generally what a client can expect.

Designs not being provided prior to the appointment is because:

  • Safety against theft of designs that take hours of unpaid time to create

  • Cutting down on doubling communications with each client, when multiplied by every client, cuts into drawing time and offsets my work/life balance

  • Because of the amount of clients I have, I am often finishing designs even up to a day or the evening before appointments.

  • Major miscommunications/major alterations that are not discussed prior to the 48 hour deposit window may result in a reschedule, so I can make any major changes to your design. This will not count towards the single deposit roll-over clause

Tips for appt!

If you would like to prepare as best you can for your appointment and new tattoo, I highly recommend:

  • Getting good rest at least a few days beforehand (Rested bodies handle pain and skin trauma better)

  • Eating a full meal beforehand (Blood sugar can drop drastically during tattoo application, as well as an empty stomach is much easier to become nauseous and light headed on)

  • Become very hydrated (Always). Hydrated skin handles ink saturation far superior to dehydrated skin.

  • Exfoliate and moisturize your skin (Also always). This is one of the most important things you can do to prepare your skin so your tattoo will look the best it can. If it is not a consistent habit, try to at least do this several times in the days leading up to your appointment. Scrub all the dead skin layer away, and moisturize the alive skin cells after scrubbing. Proper, excellent tattoo application needs clean, moisturized skin to be applied correctly and heal correctly.

  • Prep your living space to be as sanitary as possible. You will be healing a wound, (A pretty, art wound). The cleaner your living space is, the cleaner your tattoo will stay while it’s healing.

  • Clients are encouraged to bring themselves snacks and something to drink

  • Clients are more than welcome to request a silent appointment, in which I will only communicate what is necessary to you as it pertains to the application of your tattoo. Just let me know what you prefer!

  • Guests at your tattoo are welcome, I have 2 guest seats available. Guests are encouraged to minimize distractions to both client and artist outside of conversation.

Aftercare

Aftercare is one of the most important aspects of your tattoo. Unless a tattoo shop is not properly sanitizing and cleaning what they use to apply your tattoo, the most common way tattoos can become infected is after they leave the shop.
Everything I will suggest here is subject to change, however this is the general aftercare instructions I provide to clients:

  • After your tattoo appointment is completed, your tattoo will either be wrapped in plastic wrap or you will have a clear Saniderm bandage applied. Plastic wrap should be removed once you return home that day. I will typically suggest Saniderm staying on the tattoo for up to 3 days after application. Regardless of which type of wrap up you have, once it is removed:

  • Wash your tattoo with -unscented, antibacterial- soap. I typically suggest a liquid soap over a bar soap.

  • Rinse the soap off of your tattoo thoroughly

  • Gently pat the tattoo dry with a -clean, fresh- paper towel. Do NOT use bath towels or dish towels.

  • Cover your tattoo with a thin layer of Aquaphor, A&D, Tattoo Goo or UNSCENTED cocoa butter. I typically suggest clients use A&D or Tattoo Goo over other options.

  • Repeat this twice a day, such as once before you leave for work or at the beginning of your day, and once you are preparing to go to bed.

Other common things pertaining to aftercare:

  • Please do your best not to work out while your tattoo is healing. Healing times vary because all bodies are different, but if you can go at least the first week without exercising, that will help.
If you cannot or will not, then please gently wash your tattoo so sweat does not linger on it. This goes for any time you sweat while healing a new tattoo.

  • Do your best not to let your tattoo contact anything such as:
-Unclean water (This includes hot-tubs and pools, regardless if they’ve been serviced recently)
    -Harsh chemicals, even cleaning chemicals

-Unwashed hands (Either yours, your children, your pets etc.) The less a tattoo is touched during healing the better off it will be, unless you’re doing your twice a day cleaning of it.

-The sun. Please keep fresh tattoos out of direct sunlight. Once a tattoo is healed, please keep it out of direct sunlight unless you have put on sunscreen. Sunscreen helps, but direct sun will still fade your tattoo quicker than your normal skin fading it. This goes for both color work and black and grey tattoos.
